As you all probably know, I am in love with all Colourpop products as they are all amazing so I had to try the new blotted lips that they recently brought out. I only bought one to start off with to review for you all so let’s see what I thought about the new release..
The packaging of the blotted liquid lipsticks is the same as the normal liquid lipsticks by Colourpop, this didn’t bother me as I quite like the sleek and simplistic look that they have.
As for the colour and pigment and all that good stuff. I have to say that I love it. The shade I purchased was Zuma which is described as a warm rosy mauve on the Colourpop website and I completely agree. The blotted lips are not supposed to be as pigmented as the normal liquid lipsticks. They are supposed to be more sheer to look like you have been eating an ice pop and have that rosy pink stain on your lips. The blotted lip in Zuma is matte and reminds me a lot of the ultra matte liquid lip in Calipso, which if you have been following my blog for a while you will know it is my go to colour and I love it. I have taken swatches of both to show the similarity, there is a bit of difference as Calipso is more pigmented so it comes off as a darker rose but they are very similar.
Zuma is very much like that but has a thinner consistency, it is so light on the lips that when you are applying it you can’t even feel it going on. Once it has dried, it is literally so light that you can’t feel a thing. It’s not drying or flaky and it lasts for hours and hours without needing to be topped up.
On the Colourpop website they describe the ultra blotted lips as follows:
“Ultra Blotted Lip A medium coverage matte lipstick that creates a soft, diffused look. It is completely transfer-proof and long-wearing but also lightweight and comfortable. No cracking or flaking! Leaves lips smooth and fresh.”
And I have to completely agree with all of the statements they made, I was very surprised with how lightweight it felt on and how long it lasted on the lips and didn’t go flaky at all. The one and only problem that I have with the ultra matte lips is that they do transfer so when the blotted lip didn’t even transfer, it was amazing!
Honestly, I don’t have a bad thing to say about these blotted lips and I will definitely be purchasing more. I would recommend anyone who likes a matte lip and is looking for a lightweight non-flaky, non-transferable liquid lipstick to try these out because they are honestly worth the $6 that they cost! Let me know in the comments if you have tried them and what your thoughts are. I hope you all liked this post or found it interesting and I will see you all in my next post.
