Advice For Beginner Bloggers

Hello Everyone,

So in today’s post I thought I would share some tips for any new bloggers out there. I’m in no way saying that I am a professional blogger or what not but I have learnt a few things blogging for the last year and a bit. There are a lot of things I would have liked to have known when I had of started so hopefully you find this interesting and even if you’re not a new blogger you might still find something interesting here. So lets get started….

1. Be Realistic

One of the main things when beginning to create a blog is to be realistic. You are not going to earn money over night, I’ve been blogging for over a year and I still don’t make a penny from blogging but that doesn’t matter as making money should not be a big priority. It should be about writing about what you love. It’s not about making money so it’s so important not to focus on that, one day it might come for you but enjoy writing in the mean time.

2. Only Start if You Are Going to be Committed

Blogging is not easy, it takes time and effort and a lot of dedication. So commitment is key to having a blog. Honestly, I would say to only create a blog if you are sure you have the time and energy to put into the blog, even if blogging is just your hobby, if you want to see it grow, it takes a lot of hard work but it will pay off in the long run. So if you have any extra time one week, write your posts in advance for times when you know you will be tight on time. It’s a great way to keeping on top of things.

3. Think About Your Blog Before You Start

It’s important to think about what your blog is going to stand for and be about the content that you intend on putting onto it, so make sure you do lots of research before you create your blog to make sure you are ready when you start. Think about content, style, tone of voice, audience, etc. Look at the people who already do what you’re planning to do.

4. Think About The Blogs You Read

What is it that you like about their blog? Read through their posts, is it their writing style that you like or the photography on their posts? Or maybe its the layout of their blog that you find easy to read. Either way, its good to find out what it is that you like and that keeps you coming back to their site so that you can implement it into yours, your blog should show your personality and you will find that if you write about something that you are interested in then it will naturally come out when you write and that brings me on to my next tip.

5. Write About What You Love

Write about things that you are passionate about, that way you will love writing all the time. Write about things you wear and use on a daily basis or about your experience on something or advice, or even writing about your life. Whatever you like and find yourself interested in reading the most is what you should write about. Writing your blog should never feel forced, it should always feel natural. So no matter what you write about, it should be a passion.

6. Social Media is Important

Social media is key to helping your blog grow, so putting effort into them and having them is a must! Keeping them updated so that people can interact and have more information about when you post and what you talk about. It gives people an insight into what you are like as a person and if they like you they will be sure to follow and come back to your blog every time you post.

7. Make Sure You Proof Read

Having proper grammar and having good spelling is so important as it will help you stand out from other blogs that don’t proof read their posts. Its something that a lot of people notice when they are reading and people are more likely to follow a blog when it has good grammar so it is definitely something to keep in mind when writing your posts. It makes your posts look so much more professional and put together if you go to the effort of editing the mistakes.

So that’s it for today’s post. I hope you all enjoyed it, let me know if you have any other tips, or what tips helped you when you started be sure to leave them below! See you in my next post.

Thank you for reading,

Lauren,

x.

I love these tips! I’m technically not a newbie blogger but these tips can still be applicable for me! I especially agree with the social media part and proof reading posts. Too many grammatical errors definitely put me off! Great post <3

Ooo, great stuff. As a freelance editor, I was happy to see “proofread” on here. It’s a turn off for me when I can tell, because of the OBVIOUS errors, that someone didn’t read their blog post back, perhaps even once. The rushed, careless vibe can detract from even a fantastic post.

Your blog is lovely, by the way. Cheers to having the same name. :3

True, that blogging isn’t easy as many people think, even if you do it as a hobby. The consistency needed to keep your audience engaged requires commitment from you as the blogger.

Wonderful advice. I always let me IG followers know about new posts and Twitter, but what other social media would you recommend? I’m not on Facebook.
