B Beauty Makeup Sponge Review

Hello Everyone,

So if you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that I posted a picture of some products I picked up in Superdrug recently. I didn’t pick up that much on this trip but what I did pick up was the B Beauty Makeup Sponge. There have been so many dupes for the Beauty Blender and one that a lot of people love is the real techniques sponge. Personally I am a big fan of that sponge and think it works great but I was really intrigued to try this one out and see how it went.

I have heard some reviews about this sponge none of which have been bad so I decided to try it out and I’m glad I did. The sponge retails for €7.65 which is a lot more inexpensive than the original beauty blender.

On first impressions it looks very like the original beauty blender. The colour and size are both nearly identical. The only difference I noticed off hand was that the B sponge was a lot more dense and firm than the beauty blender. I thought that would change when they became softer in water but it didn’t. The B Beauty sponge is just a lot more dense in general but I don’t see this as a bad thing as I think that it doesn’t feel too dense that it is uncomfortable to apply your makeup on with, I actually quite like the denseness of it as I feel like it is really good at pressing the foundation into the skin. I actually really like the pigmentation that it gives and how even though I like to wear matte foundations, as it is wet it helps to leave my skin looking naturally dewy which I am really liking lately. It applies the makeup evenly without leaving any streaks behind, which is something brushes tend to do quite often.

Of course like any sponge, it does absorb your makeup more than a brush does but that is only natural to expect. It does absorb more than I would like it to, especially of the foundation, for example, I would use one pump of foundation when applying with a brush but when I use the sponge, I need two pumps to get a good even coverage across my face and even at that it isn’t as full coverage as it would be if I used a brush.

In saying that though, a full coverage foundation is not the look I personally go for so it doesn’t both me at all but if you were looking for full coverage, just be aware that you might have to use a little more product than you are used to when applying with a brush.

Overall I actually really like the sponge and will definitely keep using it. Of course it has some downsides but I like it just as much as the real techniques sponge as I think they are very similar and the only real difference is the denseness of the B beauty sponge. Definitely give it a try if you are on the lookout for a new makeup sponge. I hope you all like this post, let me know in the comments what your favourite sponge is or if you have ever tried this one. See you in my next post.
