Feeling Pressured… Experiencing Writers Block

Writers block…

I think every writer no matter what they write goes through it. We all have those moments where we sit at our computer and just stare at the blank screen as you just don’t know where to start, or what on earth you are going to write about.

It’s been a while since I experienced it, as there is usually always something on my mind that I can jot down into a post. Lately though, I’ve been stuck. I can’t find the motivation, I want to write but nothings coming out. I’ve sat at my computer now, writing a few lines about different things but constantly deleting them as after the first line, I’ve no idea what to say next!

It can be so demotivating to have nothing in your brain that you can form into a post. Just sitting there blankly hoping something will pop up and spark something within you. Sometimes that happens, other times you just have to give up and hope that something comes to you another time.

Lately I’ve been finding beauty posts so monotonous to write, don’t get me wrong they are always interesting but there is something about them that can be so hard to write all the time.Β  I’ve always said that my posts are mostly going to be lifestyle as I just find those types of posts so easy and interesting to write, I also find that its those types of posts that people get involved with in the comments, its then that you begin to learn more about people and their experiences and that in turn can even help you learn a bit more about yourself.

It always amazes me when people say that I have helped them or inspired them with my posts, what can be more motivating than that? I follow a good few bloggers who like to express there feelings and thoughts and I honestly admire that, even if their opinion is not the same as mine or majority of the public, I still think its amazing for someone to voice their opinions and have their voice heard.

Picking yourself back up and kick starting writing again can be difficult, I always love to get out of the house and go for a walk or a drive. It helps so much to stop you thinking about not having any ideas. I also find that going somewhere new or even visiting somewhere you haven’t been in a while always sparks some sort of idea in me!

Don’t let yourself get bogged down by the fact that you can’t form an idea in your head, it happens to the best of us, sometimes all you need to do is take a break and come back to it in a while. Trust in yourself, writes block doesn’t last forever… πŸ™‚

Let me know in the comments if you have ever experienced writers block and how you have fixed it in the past. Let me know what posts you’d like to see too. See you in my next post.

Thank you for reading,

I am a beginner in blogging but I can totally understand your dilemma. It’s the same with me. Though it’s just the beginning. Hope I’ll be able to make a mark.

You definitely will, it just takes time, let it all happen naturally and you’ll be good πŸ™‚

I know writers block sucks, but we should never feel bad about it. Creativity is actually pretty exhausting, and I think that sometimes our brains just need a break to recoup and regenerate some new ideas. Never feel bad about taking a break 😊

Definitely agree! Its good to take some me time πŸ™‚

Great post! I think anyone who writes experiences writer’s block. I think it happens when you’re blogging or writing to please others, or make a quota, rather than as a hobby. I know when I don’t feel any pressure to write, the ideas are endless. Usually before I can forget the ideas, I’ll start posts and keep them in drafts. Having at least 5-10 starter posts helps when I experience those days of writer’s block! It’s nice to be able to see posts from others and get some ideas. Writer’s block can’t be all that bad, though. Sometimes it’s just a reminder from our brains to take a break. πŸ™‚

When I had writer’s block in college and I had a paper due, I would brainstorm ideas or a plan of attack; then, once I found something interesting and the ideas started flowing, I would begin to write about that idea. You don’t need to start writing with the introduction and end your writing session with the conclusion. Instead, try jumping around. If you’re thinking about a post and you have inspiration to write the middle paragraphs before your opening and closing paragraphs, go for it! Those will come once you’ve gotten into the flow of writing, and I find that you write genuinely and passionately when you write what you want to write about instead of forcing yourself to do it methodically. That’s just how I deal with writer’s block. Hope it helps!

Yeah I completely agree, sometimes ideas come it bits and pieces so its good to write them down no matter what they are πŸ™‚

Because I don’t blog a lot yet, my writer’s block always has to do with my fiction. What I recently learned about writer’s block is that it’s not a random, unfortunate thing, as I previously thought. For me, writer’s block means I literally don’t know what to do/where to go. It means I have a problem I need to fix in my story. That’s why, reading about the craft of writing (and learning or remembering something) immediately gets me going again.

    Thanks for the post, Lauren!

Yeah maybe you need to take a break and let it come naturally when its ready, sometimes we just need to let our minds relax a bit when they have been working non stop, good luck with it πŸ™‚

I always have a hard time writing essays and papers for school, I always get a mini writers block, but I almost can’t stop writing the day before it’s due! It’s so weird, I can use weeks on trying to write, and the last day I’ll delete it all and use an hour to write a new one! Great post β™₯

I used to do that a the time, I always get so many ideas last minute, it can sometimes come in so handy haha

My blog is not my job, so I don’t have an immense pressure, and lately, I have not posted my regular content because I just don’t get the ideas to post my usual stuff, so I write what’s on my heart. But I also kind of have follower block… So that can be demotivating… Just know that it’s ok to feel down a little, just listen to your heart and do what you love.
